Strange is the log buffer has logs but the real-time viewer doesn't show anything, so I had to use the log buffer and keep refreshing manually to debug my vpn session establishment. In the ASDM under Configuration > Device Management > Logging > Logging Setup, ensure that "Enable Logging" is checked.
